Although the town history of Karlsruhe offers no romance of the Middle Ages, it does have the distinct fan-shaped layout of baroque rationality, outstanding architecture from the last three centuries and a very diverse cultural life. The 300,000 residents can enjoy a varied yet compact range of activities and events: from street festivals and open-air concerts to exhibitions, cultural and recreational facilities, to the restaurants, cafes and clubs. The Castle, the Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Court of Justice are definitely worth seeing when in Karlsruhe.
